The Beerman Sez

Beers That Start With The Letter R

As good as it gets! Rating: 5+ out of 5
Brewery: Unibroue

Raftman

This robust reddish whiskey malt ale on lees is everything a beer should be. Just thinking about this ale brings tears to the Beerman's bloodshot eyes. The brewers claim a two year plus shelf life but the Beerman doesn't believe that anyone could let this sit for any length of time.

Like it was brewed by angels, eh? Rating: 4.5 out of 5
Brewery: Brick Brewing Co
Website: www.brickbeer.com
Strength: 5%

Red Cap Ale

Brick Brewing Company has not only recreated the old Carling Red Cap but they also brought back the stubby bottle. It brings back memories of beer snuck from someone's fridge. Red Cap has a nice texture and a crisp finish. The Beerman likes it.

So round, so firm, so fully packed... Rating: 1.25 out of 5
Brewery: Desnoes & Geddes Limited
Website: www.redstripebeer.com
Strength: 5%

Red Stripe

The Beerman has never had a bottle of Red Stripe that wasn't skunky. If someone wants to send The Beerman some fresh Red Stripe he will give it another chance but he isn't going to try buying it again unless he's in Jamaca.
Skunky alert!

Wow! Rating: 4.9 out of 5
Brewery: Flying Dog
Website: www.flyingdogales.com Strength: 5.8%

Road Dog

Rich dark ale. It will beat up light beer sipping girliemen but the Beerman says this stuff is awesome. And their website has a tasty brat recipe. Dark ale and artery-clogging dead animal byproducts, it doesn't get any better than this.

What's all the hype? Rating: 2.51 out of 5
Brewery: Latrobe
Website: www.rollingrock.com Strength: 4.6%

Rolling Rock

It comes in a cool painted green bottle. The mysterious 33 on the label means same as it ever was or something like that. For some reason not entirely clear to the Beerman this is a huge fad beer in some western areas. The Beerman blames the popularity of Colorado Coolaid in those same areas for this happening. It is marginally better than the beers the Beerman chose for his average rating so he is giving it an extra .01 over Bud and High Life. They have good marketing but the Beerman will go with Yuengling over it every time.
